Assignment #6 Steve Job's Talk

5 good words/sentences

1.  "It was awful-tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. "

2. "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right."

3. "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish."

4. hitchhike (搭便車 V. N.)
    To travel to places by getting free rides from drivers of passing cars

5. encounter (遭遇 V. N.)
    To experience something, especially problems or opposition

I personally like his first story - Connecting the Dots
Although he had a tough childhood, he still worked his way out.
And the most important thing is that he never give up! Eventually, he turns the tragedy into the miracle.
I really admire a person who has the courage to follow their own thought and make it happen.
I expect myself to have this kind of courage too.

Assignment #5 You Raise Me Up

About "You Raise Me Up":

"You Raise Me Up" is a song originally composed by Irish-Norwegian duo Secret Garden.
After the song was performed early in 2002 by the Secret Garden and their invited lead singer, Brian Kennedy, the song only became a minor hit in the UK.
The song has been recorded by more than a hundred other artists including Josh Groban, who popularized the song in 2003; his rendition became a hit in the United States.
The Irish band Westlife then popularized the song in the UK two years later.

Three words I learned from this song:

1.glimpse (v. 瞥見 )
   e.g. They glimpsed a village through the trees.

2.eternity(n. 永恆、不朽)
   e.g. Their love was sealed for eternity.

3.weary (adj. 疲倦的、乏味的)
   e.g. She grew weary of staying home.

Why I like this song?

-I like this song because it's very inspiring. Every time I feel down or stressed, I would listen to the song and relax myself, and all the pressure will be relieved. I truly recommand this song to you not just because i like it, but i hope it can help you,too.

Lyrics
When I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up to more than I can be.

Assignment #4 All Ears English

I chose an episode called: The best way to talk about your best friend.
In this episode, they taught 5 different ways to to express "best friend".
1. Besties
    It sounds young and not serious.
2. To be attached at the hip
    It means you always spend time together.
3. Two peas in a pod
    I think it sounds really cute, and it could also mean that you two are quite similar in some ways.
4. Best buds
    This phrase sounds quite young, too. And it usually refers to the friend you used to spend time with in you childhood.
5. Super close
    I personally like this one the most.
    It's seems  that you are really really good friends and you always do things or share things together.

My opinion
I actually don't like this website so much, I think it has too much ads, it's really noisy, and it's too casual.
They just say things about the subject in their own opinion, not really teaching.
